PLANT TEMPERATURE CAMERA

Plant temperature is more important than ambient temperature. When the camera is connected, climate can be controlled based on the plant temperature. If plant temperature gets too high, the Maxi Controller will dim the lights to keep the stomata open. In case of water shortage (e.g. due to a faulty pump) the lights are also dimmed or turned off to prevent crop damage. (Available in 5M (16ft.) or 10M (33ft.) cable).

HUMIDITY (RH) SENSOR FOR DIMLUX

The RH sensor displays the ambient humidity on the Maxi Controller. If the RH sensor is connected, a humidifier can also be switched on with the Maxi Controller. If the VPD is to be displayed, the plant temperature camera and the ambient temperature sensor will also be required. (Available in 5M (16ft.) or 10M (33ft.) cable).

TEMPERATURE SENSOR

The temperature sensor allows the Maxi Controller to dim the lights based on a grow environment’s ambient temperature. If the set value is exceeded, the lights will dim to keep the temperature under control. If the temperature rises despite dimming, half of the dimmed lights will be switched off in a checkered board pattern. If the temperature still continues to rise all lights will be switched off for at least 20 minutes. (Available in 5M (16ft.) or 10M (33ft.) cable).

CO2 SENSOR FOR MAXI CONTROLLER (DUAL-BEAM)
GAS PROTECT

The Gas Protect sensor monitors both gases in addition to the CO2 content. In the event of minor gas leakage or CO combustion, the CO2 generator will switch off and cause the alarm LED to illuminate. This always ensures safety and prevents plant damage.

CO2 SENSOR FOR MAXI CONTROLLER (DUAL-BEAM)

Separate CO2 sensor that can be connected to the Maxi Controller, and which also controls the CO2 generator or CO2 pressure reducing valve. The sensors use the Dual Beam NDIR technology which delivers unprecedented calibration stability and accuracy (down to 5ppm). Other CO2 sensors are Single beam and need to be regularly calibrated. Dual Beam sensors are two sensors in one where the measuring sensor is periodically adjusted by the second sensor. Because the second sensor is active only 5 minutes per month, it does not age or drift. (Available in 5M (16ft.) or 10M (33ft.) cable).

FAN / AUX BOX

THE FAN/AUX BOX HAS 3 OUTPUTS SO A HEATER, HUMIDIFIER, DEHUMIDIFIER AND FAN CAN BE CONNECTED TO THE DIMLUX MAXI CONTROLLER.

The new Dimlux Maxi Controller EVO 1.1 has an Aux/Fan output, so that an external Aux box or Fan/Aux box can be connected.

The Fan/Aux box has 3 outputs so a heater, humidifier, dehumidifier and fan can be connected to the Dimlux Maxi Controller. All outputs are 15A. The fan control is electronic and quiet while in use (no buzzing). The fan controller has a temperature control and an RH day and night to control which are individually adjustable. The temperature controller works by means of SmartLogic®. SmartLogic® is an algorithm that ensures the current temperature is equal to the set temperature.

AUX BOX

THE AUXBOX HAS TWO CONNECTIONS. ONE FOR A HEATING SYSTEM/HEATER AND THE OTHER FOR A HUMIDIFIER OR DEHUMIDIFIER.

The new Dimlux Maxi Controller EVO 1.1 has an Aux/Fan output, so that an external Aux box or Fan/Aux box can be connected..

An Auxbox can be connected to controller’s aux port. The Auxbox converts the maxi controller into a fully automatic air conditioning system. The Auxbox is available in two designs. The Auxbox has two connections, one for a heating system/heater and two for a humidifier or dehumidifier. The other design can also control a fan as well as a heating system and a humidifier or dehumidifier. The fan control is electronic and has no annoying buzz.

More Information

Plant Temperature Camera

The plant temperature camera that is connected and integrated to the Dimlux Maxi Controller, measures the temperature of the plant and displays the results on the Maxi Controller.

The question is:
Why do we need a plant temperature camera at all?
The reason is that it is critical for the maxi controller to understand the general stasis or health of the plant. The temperature of a healthy plant should always be less than the ambient temperature of the environment in which the plant is living in. The plant has water and nutrients constantly moving through it which keeps it cooler than the surrounding temperature. If the plant temperature rises to the same temperature as the ambient temperature, then it is no longer in a healthy state and will start to wilt and eventually die. Things that contribute to this undesirable state or environment include:

  1. High intensity discharge lighting,
  2. Lack of suitable extraction or ventilation,
  3. Not proper water supply to the plant.

So with the aid or intelligence of the Dimlux Maxi Controller Unit the Dimlux lights that are fully controlled by the maxi controller are dimmed until the plants’ temperature is less than the ambient temperature and will remain so until the fault which is causing the disproportion of plant and ambient temperature is corrected (ie. plumbing/electrical fault).

Now with the Dimlux Plant Sensor, Dimlux temperature sensor and Dimlux humidity sensor connected and integrated with the Dimlux Maxi controller, the controller is programmed to analyze the ambient temperature and plant temperature and humidity levels and calculate another measurement of vital importance which is described as the “Vapour Pressure Deficit” or VPD. This measurement is a reading which best describes the level of support of the environment in which the plant lives.

This environment is crucial for optimum growth and nutrient uptake, which revolves around how hot and humid the environment is. If the indoor environment is illuminated with HID (High Intensity Discharge) lighting and the humidity is over 70 to 80% and temperatures are in excess of 35degrees then the plants ability to photosynthesize and take in CO2 and draw or uptake nutrient is decreased and therefore the plants ability to grow and produce flowers and fruits also decreases.

So if the environment cannot be controlled or conditioned externally, then the ability of your plants to uptake nutrient and grow optimally will also be reduced, therefore to decrease illumination and heat of HID lighting is the next logical step in balancing the parameters [heat and humidity] in keeping photosynthetic reactions high, and more importantly keeping stomata in the leaves open.

By keeping the stomata open for gas exchange, which is the major force driving water and nutrients into the plant and forcing more sugars and amino acids into the flower/fruits for optimum production. Only with Dimlux Lighting and Control Gear is this level of control possible. To have greater degree of flexibility in your indoor environment regarding your lighting, the correct control gear is the key in consistently maximizing the quality and yield potential of your plants from cycle to cycle!

The idea of VPD and its application is new and exciting and for some maybe confusing. The idea (once again) is that if it’s too hot or too humid for your plants to function optimally then why waste electricity running lights at full power when the plants cannot utilize the light, when we can balance the heat and humidity by lowering the lighting power and bringing the vapor pressure deficit reading to around 1 to 1.2.

By doing this the plants will be utilizing the nutrient you are feeding them, and thereby growing and producing optimally. I repeat, this is only possible with Dimlux Lighting, Dimlux Maxi Controller and the Dimlux Plant camera and sensors. Even at 70% illumination the same yields were attained, just based on the fact that the other parameters were balanced and the optimum VPD was attained.

The Dimlux Plant Temperature Camera is a fantastic accessory that precisely measures infrared levels of your flower and feeds the information back to the Dimlux Maxi Controller. This information is then used with the room temperature and humidity readings to calculate and display the vapor pressure deficit (VPD) level – the potential for the surrounding air to draw moisture away from the plant. It provides the grower with the most accurate information on how much plants will have to transpire to in order to reach an equilibrium with the surrounding atmosphere. Large pressure deficits mean that your plants will lose more water through their stomata. Small pressure deficits mean that plants hold onto their water more easily (great for cuttings, etc). The Maxi Controller is capable of regulating the output of your lighting according to the difference in temperature between the plants and the surrounding atmosphere, ensuring that VPD levels always sit within the correct range.

The Maxi Controller displays plant temperature readings in two ways: ‘PT’ denotes the actual plant temperature, while ‘AT’ represents the difference between the temperature of the plants and the rest of the room. The difference (AT) should be kept as low as possible – plant temperature (PT) should always be within 1 or 2 degrees of the surrounding environment and, ideally, at the same level. The Maxi Controller will do this automatically, ensuring that lighting output levels are reduced whenever the AT gets too high.
